From the CSU Fiber Page: Construction is ongoing in the first build area (I-25 east to Union Boulevard. from Woodmen Road north to Interquest Parkway.) and is expected to be completed later this year!
Additionally, construction is underway in the third build area (Union Boulevard east to Powers Boulevard. from Woodmen Road north to Briargate Parkway).
Due to construction delays, the originally planned second build area (I-25 west to the city’s boundary from Garden of the Gods Road north to the Air Force Academy) is now estimated to begin in 2025.

How to identify the construction crew in your neighborhood
Colorado Springs Utilities has hired contractors to lay down their fiber network, and you may see them from time to time in your neighborhood. Their contractors operate under various names. If you have questions about a construction crew working in your neighborhood and they do not have Ting on their uniforms or vehicles, you can fill out our contact form here.
You’ll recognize Ting installers and construction crew by their branded uniforms and vehicles that will say Ting or Ting Authorized Contractors. If you have questions about our install process or construction crew, our Construction Experience Team is eager to help here.

The network provides 2-gigabit-per-second speeds to every residential address (both upload and download speeds).
Your needs depend on what your household uses the internet for. Here's how much speed you need for common uses, measured in megabits per second (Mbps):
- Up to 25 Mbps for email, browsing, and casual streaming
- 25-50 Mbps for video calling, music streaming and HD video streaming
- 50-100 Mbps for 4K video streaming, working from home, and gaming
- 200+ Mbps for 4K video streaming on multiple devices, smart home connectivity and elite-level gaming
Keep in mind that using multiple devices simultaneously means you'll need more bandwidth to keep up. Ting Internet's 2 Gbps plan is designed to handle 75+ devices seamlessly, even when the whole family is using the internet heavily at the same time.
Streaming services and live TV apps allow you to watch TV over your internet connection instead of via cable or satellite. They have all the local channels, sports and news that you’re already watching and give you familiar tools like program guides and digital video recording (DVR).

- What equipment will be installed?
We install fiber optic conduit, a kind of fiber optic protective tubing that surrounds individual fiber strands to keep them safe. We also install handhole access openings that look a lot like the access hatch you might find in a lawn irrigation system. This allows our fiber technicians to easily access the lines for maintenance or repair. We install this equipment in the public right-of-way so the lines can be branched out to connect individual homes.
- What will construction look like?
You might notice some dust and noise from construction, but using our boring or microtrenching methods, we keep the process as quick and clean as possible.
- How long will it take?
Construction in front of your home typically lasts only a couple of days.
- How long does a fiber installation take?
If Ting Internet is new to your neighborhood, it takes about 3 weeks from conducting an initial home assessment to having your connection set up.
- Will construction be on my property?
We don’t dig on your property unless you have specifically requested it. All construction happens in the public right-of-way.
- Will construction affect my utilities?
Before any digging takes place, we identify all public underground utilities. If you’ve ordered Ting Internet to your home, you’ll be responsible for calling to locate and mark any private utilities like sprinkler systems, septic and invisible fencing.
