Fiber construction looks different depending on where you live. Here are a few things you might see:
Crews working nearby: Crews may be building the fiber network along your street.
Spray paint on the ground: Utility markings help crews locate existing underground lines.
Green boxes in the ground: Small utility boxes provide access to underground fiber.
A box on your home: That's the NID (Network Interface Device), connects your home to Ting’s fiber network.
The company building the network may be different from the internet provider that will be delivering service. You can always ask a crew member if that’s not already marked.

Frequently asked questions on construction and installation

  • Is Ting still building in my city?

    Each Ting town has a different construction plan. Some cities are fully built, some are being built by network partners. Sign up for email updates for the latest on your town.

  • What should I expect ahead of installation?

    Before your installation, our construction partners will do some minor outside work to prepare your connection. You don't need to be home for this part.

  • I have private utilities, what do I need to do?

    Have sprinklers, an invisible fence, or other private utilities in your yard? Mark them before the outside team buries fiber in your yard. (This typically happens between when you order and when you have your inside installation appointment.)

  • Do I need to do anything on installation day?

    To avoid delays, plug in your equipment ahead of time. This lets us activate your service as soon as the outside work is done.

  • What happens on the day of my appointment?

    We'll map out a plan to run fiber from the street to the side or front of your home, then handle the digging, burying, and restoring your yard once the work's done.

  • I have a concern about construction in my neighborhood.
